I am new to turning, other than making a table when I was at school some 25 years ago. I have inheritted a Delta 46-255 from my dad who past away a year ago, and whilst he knew everything, I expected him to be there forever so never asked. So, I was wondering if anyone could give me a little help.
1. I cant find the user manual anywhere, so if anyone knows where I could get one from that would be a great help. I have been searching the web for hours.
2. I cant seem to adjust the speed to the lower speeds, it adjusts between 6 and 10, but not below. I am hoping this is something simple, rather than a fault.
3. For turning a bowl should i turn the head around 180 degree and turn from the other end? I found something on a different lathe about the head rotating 45 degrees but I am not sure if that is the same for this lathe.
Any advice on these will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Nev, thanks for the reply. It looks completly different, but not really knowing the terminology or what I am doing I dont know if it is similar enough or not. I will try emailing them though. thanks again.

Don't know what that model looks like but I suspect it is similar to the Axminster perform and 900 series.

And will have a pulley system similar to this. <<< Link to a thread that may be of use.

If it is you need to check the lubrication of the pulley on the motor shaft. You will find a grease nipple in the end of the shaft.
Speed change should only be attempted with the mechanism turning at least by hand if not switched on to allow the belt to slide up the pulleys.

Also check and clean if necessary the headstock spindle area, dry PTFE lubrication should be used in this area.

If it is this type of drive you need to clean and check lubrication regularly, say once a month if in daily use.
