I took the cover off my lathe to replace the belt as it was not providing drive at high speeds, the belt was simply flapping around. Unfortunately I took the old belt out before fitting the new one. Additionally I have noticed that the drive pulley is damaged see photos.
Where can I get a new drive pulley from or is it safe to use them in the current condition, there is additional fractures that aren't shown in the pic. My lathe is a Delta 46-225.

Hi

I believe Axminster Power Tools carry spare parts for this variable speed system, it's used on numerous 'clones', I'm not sure what the Axminster version is but a quick look on their website should guide you.

I wouldn't continue to use the lathe until you have repaired the pulley system, at best you risk damaging a new belt at worst the potential for more significant damage.

Edited to ask if you have the lathe designation correct? - the Delta 46-225 seems to be a fixed four speed machine

Type 2 is similar

If you have not found it there's a reasonable discussion about these drives and associated problems and maintenance here, worth a browse up and down the posts.

I also have that Delta lathe, and had the same problem. Actually I have the Delta 46-255 which I have assumed is what you meant ???????
My own fault. The lathe had been given to me by a neighbour who no longer had a use for it and it had been standing for some time unused. The pulleys were tight on the shaft making speed change difficult and I damaged them when trying to free them up.

I decided the Axminster AWVSL900 looked similar so I contacted Axminster to ask if the parts were interchangeable.
They were not able to confirm, but gave me a price for a replacement set of pulleys for the AWVSL 900 which was not expensive, so I took a chance and ordered them

I can confirm they are identical. :D
