Hi all

My first completed kitless fountain pen - plenty learned doing this and plenty to improve the next time!

The only bought parts were the nib, feed and holder. Blanks were cast from alumilite. It's not perfect but I'm pleased to have got it to some kind of completion.

Looks pretty fine to me.

Though being a klutz, I'm not sure exactly which bits are yours.

Nib - check
Feeder - check
Holder - Not sure which.

If you've turned the black and pink bits and made the thread, I'm even more impressed - well done indeed.

The first custom pen is the hardest. I've made a few and can appreciate your accomplishment. As you make more they get easier and faster to make but are much more satisfying than kit pens. Well except a kit pen can be made in well under an hour.

Thanks, Greg. The holder is what the nib and feed fit into which is then screwed into the section - the black bit on the body of the pen.

Pete, I'm looking forward to the next one. First I'm going to make some closed end mandrel do as I think this will make life easier. Drilling the section was tricky too!

well done. is the alumulite blank your own casting, i haven't seen them for sale over here.

A kitless pen is my ambition for the year.

Thanks, Dalboy - yep, a triple thread 12 x .8 - bought in a group buy with the IAP at least 5 years ago! Been a long time getting to this project!

Marcros, the alumilite is from Metal Clay - much nicer to use than polyester resin!
