I have a small board of old mahogany which I'm making into a table. Size is about 26x16" and an inch thick. It's cupped by about 1/8" and with about 1/4" of wind between the ends. Grain is in the long direction.
I've twice had it wetted on the concave side and with a damp cloth, clamped between 2x2s both ways (photo) and waited until dry before releasing it. It hasn't made more than a slight difference. I'm not keen on planing it flat as it's part of a pair and I'd lose too much thickness.
Just wondering if anybody has any further suggestions? Should I keep going with the wet/clamp/dry cycle?
