Hi All,
I have been trying to work out how much timber is in a cubic foot,
the timber yard i approached will only give me a price in cubic tonnes 'dohh' and i'm struggling to get my quantities.
I'm trying to buy some american white oak which they only have 100mm x 25mm x 3600mm in stock and couldnt give me a cubic foot price at the time i phoned, i think i got the new start.
I worked out that i needed 180mm x 20mm x 1250mm in a quantity of 10off for the job i wanted and could join the boards but my brain seems to have stopped functioning today
can any one shed some light on how to work out cubic foot sizes

Ian

Ask google like this....

180mm * 20mm * 1250mm in (foot)^3

Type it into goggle directly as it is, and it'll give you the answer?

Or how about in meters cubed?

180mm * 20mm * 1250mm in meters^3
(= 0.0045 meters^3)

or how about in teaspoons?

e.g.

180mm * 20mm * 1250mm in teaspoons

= 912.978609 US teaspoons

So how much is a teaspoon you ask?

912.978609 US teaspoons = 38.0407754 half US cups

And on an on.....

38. in roman numerals = XXXVIII

1 cubic meters = 35.3146667 cubic feet

180mm x 20mm x 1250mm in a quantity of 10off = .18m x .02m x 1.25m x 10 = 0.045 cubic metres = 0.045 x 35.3146667 = 1.59 cubic feet

:D

OK, I forgot to multiple it up by the 10 pieces, but google has the correct answer.

Superb Gents,
i didnt know you could do that with google, these web search engines are not as daft as they look.
once again thanks

Ian

If you've received info from the US they should at least be able to give you a 'board foot' price (white oak should be about $12, or was a couple of years ago when I last bought some). Simply multiply that by 12 for the cubic foot price.
