Cross cut oak finishing?

Hi guys,I'm planning to make some knife handles in oak,they will be about 4mm thick and cross cut so that growth rings etc are fully visible.

What would the best way to finish these be? I have walnut oil,danish and teak oils and also microcrystalline wax.

Ideally the finish would have to be maintenance free and hard wearing.

I presume these are purely ornamental, otherwise they are pretty much guaranteed to crack up.

I'd use a couple of coats of a hardwax oil, like Osmo Polyx oil, which will be resistant to fingermarks and water.

I would go for the hard wax oil too, probably with a bit of microcrystalline wax on top.
