So what are likely to be the must not miss highlights of Cressing Temple ? Should be there for the day Saturday and need to make sure I don't miss the obvious.

Thanks Pete, was one of the attributes listed on the personal justification stakes for the day inside the gates, we are spending a couple of days on the history/tourist trail in the area.

As it's so far from base I was hoping to see a different selection of demonstrators etc. to go with the local architectural differences and delights.

Well I don't think Chris Shwarz is local!

I'm otherwise committed this weekend or else might well have made the trek.

Some Photos from Sunday

The Barns, fabulous buildings.

I had a chat with David Charlesworth, Derek Jones, Deneb Puchalski, David Barron, Phill Edwards, Rich Arnold said hello to Chris Swartz and loads of other people.
I took my Brass Shoulder plane and my wedge marking gauges and every body liked them, which was nice.
Loads of tools for sale but I resisted, and some good discounts.

I came back with a plank on Tiger Oak and some veneer, its cracking show well worth visiting.

How did you get that first shot up in the roof Pete? I didn't know they allowed people up there.

Good to see the holdfasts making an appearance again even if I didn't. One day .....

In one barn there is a observation platform its taken from there with my Fish eye lens the next photo is from the same place with a 10-20mm zoom lens.

It was the Japanese planing chap Andy Ryalls bench I think, every time I went passed they where not demonstrating.

Just got back with 619.7 miles on the clock after an extended weekend going to-from and around the area that included most of Saturday around the barns etc. Impressive venue, with for me significant interest in the buildings themselves as the construction methods and designs and proportions differ somewhat to those I'm used to seeing in the west of the UK. Plenty of room to browse and opportunities to change viewing itinerary as demonstrations and refreshment breaks moved people concentrations around, several of the usual suspects noted both demonstrating and browsing, many like me a long way from home, one new face to me was Philip Streeting who made a point of making contact, good to chat Philip.

For anyone with similar distances to travel as me, and an interest in National Trust type properties and historic interests etc. such as Sutton Hoo there's more than enough to fill a few extended days in the area. Thanks for the information EssexChris, hit the venue you recommended and the nearby barn on the trip down.
