been a while since I posted and ask a dumb question :)
I have a box to make for a wedding
remit is a small pirates chest
this is to put gratuity in aka money box for notes
I have loads of 12" diameter oak logs which I can:
mount on lathe, turn round \ hollow and slice in half to make the top part
slice in to planks and cut angle \ cooper to make the round top of chest
fors and against would really be appreciated please

Steve

If it doesn't have to be a treasure chest you could turn and hollow the barrel and make a lid to top the barrel with. You can simulate the metal hoops by leaving raised areas and then painting those areas. Make staves as described bellow.

If it has to be a chest then turn and hollow and just cut to make the lid. Some lines cut/scored/burned would simulate the staves.

Whatever you end up doing please post a finished picture or two.
