For all of us who never find the beautiful tools that Jimi and others seem to conjure out of car boot sales and the like, here is a picture of my latest find. Buried in the drystane dyke between us and the neighbour. Don't think it will make a fortune on Ebay.....

Nah - just a very ordinary pincer, but as you say, lacking the cat's paw and the opposing ball. Best fate is probably to bury it reverently back in the dyke!
 
Interesting, if nothing else!

What's the point of the little ball that's usually on the end of one of the handles on pincers? Is it something to do with farrier-ing?
