Apologies in advance - I'm very much a novice here.

I got a sheesham coffee table off gumtree for a pittance. It was in reasonable condition apart from a few scratch marks on the top. I got some varnish remover from Screwfix and it has stripped down ok. I was then planning to sand down and re-varnish.

However as you can see from the photo the varnish remover has exposed some joints which I assume had been concealed during the original finishing process.

Can anyone advise the best way to hide these again? I'm assuming that wood dye would just make it darker rather than actually cover it up.

you will never make them (the light coloured joints) invisible without skilful colouring so either leave them as they are or make them dark rather than light. To achieve the latter, try staining them first and if the stain doesnt take very well, sand the light sections ONLY and then re stain they should then go very dark! if sanding make sure you sand only the light coloured part and nothing around it.

Cheers Matt, I'll give it a go.

Clearly the table had been skillfully coloured previously because they certainly weren't visible before!
