They are usually the “silent“ type or the ones I’ve come across are, other than that they are the same as any other compressor just set the pressure you want for your pin gun & away you go.
 
Certainly quiet, and enough for a small 2nd fix pinner, although not up to running a 1st fix gun. I've seen upholsterers use them loads of times for staples and brads

Thanks both for your advice, I am hoping to rebuild my garage come workshop in around two months time and will try to keep the sounds down (not that I have had any complaints before) so these bambis seem good enough for my needs, next I will probably get a radial arm saw just for cross cuts as they are not so noisy as my mitre saw.

Absolutely brilliant gets used every day for various jobs and it’s an older version
