In the constant battle for space in a single garage workshop, I am contemplating combining my router table and table saw into one unit. I was thinking of replacing the current extrusions front and back of the table saw with 2020 Aluminium Profile, with a wing holding the router (Triton MOF001) on the left hand side of the saw. Will 2020 be strong enough or is it likely to bend under the weight?
Futhermore, I want to incorporate my Incra LS Positioner to act as rip fence for the saw as well as the router. I was thinking of mounting the base on some 30mm x 3mm aluminium flat bars that would hook into and ride along the 2020 profile, effectively creating a poor-man's version of the TS-LS. Again, would the 3mm bar be ridgid enough or would it sag? If the latter, could I maybe add some nylon 'glide' blocks to support and help smooth movement across the right hand wing?
