Hello all!!
I need suggestions for quickly colouring white wood to create on old antique finish. I am doing a large number of small wooden boxes therefore the finishing method should be quick and cheap. I have used the steel wool and vinegar and love the finish colour, however there is a dusty rust powder that comes of that finish which I did laquer over and

it was great. With your experience, have you some suggestions on how I could do this?? Many thanks everyone for your help. Thomas

depending on the wood and the finish you will use but the following
1. very strong tea
2. coffee
3. beetroot juice
4 (with a bit of elbow grease) light tan Cherry Blossom shoe polish

I've used Vandyke Crystals in the past, you can mix them to the required strength from anything from a light brown to dark rich reddish colour.
