Hi I have a TRITON TRB001 240V 1/2INCH ROUTER 2000W and would like to get a 1/4 inch collet for it, no luck on a internet search anybody have any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

I don't think they are made for that router, they use a reduction sleeve. I have bought some in the past, but cannot remember where. Do a google search on 'Triton spares' and I think you will come up with the sit I got mine from. They are very good BTW, and would try to get a Triton one, rather than other reduction sleeves which I do not like at all.

Mike.

I have tried a collet reducer (Triton) with this model and the bit always rises and ruins the cut. Search this forum for a solution. Toolsparesonline do a replacement collet (not a reducer) for this model. I bought one some time ago but have delayed fitting it. The advice I received from Triton was to knock off the 1/2" collet which releases the thread. Try the forum on the Triton website.

It arrived today (good service) my next problem is getting the 1/2 inch collet out of the router. I removed the nut and the collet remains behind. I happened to get an spare 1/2 collet with the router, but the nut and collet seem to be attached to each other,so does the new 1/4 inch I have just received. There is nothing I can find in the manual that tells me how to remove it. So before I do my usual thing and try to use brute force to get it out, I thought it prudent to ask.
I did try ring Triton but could get no answer.

Any Idea's

Drill a hole in a piece of wood thats smaller than the collet. If you push the nut and collet in the hole it usually wiggles free.- works on dewalt anyway

Hi Coley

Thanks for the reply

when I took the nut off the 1\2 inch collet that was screwed into the router the nut came off but the collet stayed behind and is still stuck fast in there. I need to get that out before I can fit the new 1\4 inch collet and its associated nut.

Cheers

Oh I get ya ;) been a long day  is it possible to stick the shank of a 12.5 mm drill bit in there and give it a wiggle ?

Tried that but it wont shift. Will have a think about tonight and have another look in the morning.

Thanks

Should have said, I couldn't get a 12.5 router bit in there I used a slightly smaller allan key to try and move it about, but no joy.

Edit
Got of, used a curved pair of mole grips and gently rotated back and forth an it came loose. I must have inadvertently tightened it up to dight the last time I used it.

Thanks guy's
