Anyone seen anything similar? I got this one in from the US. With postage about £20 (probably more now).
Just wondering if something similar is available in the UK.
A useful piece of kit but rather flimsy construction.
I'd prefer something stronger if possible

TBH that doesn't look flimsy but rather lightly constructed, which might be all that's really needed. The type of clamping this is for doesn't need mega strength to squeeze the ends of the two pieces together, it's more to hold the joint steady while it's reinforced somehow.

Anyhoo, if you want something like this but stronger like MattRoberts my first thought was to knock it up in the workshop. Although making up a set of dedicated mitre clamps for 45°, 60° etc. would be simpler and there are loads of versions of these that you can cog off.

Terminology - I agree "lightly constructed " is more accurate. Maybe they're a bit tighter on the pivot when new, this one slops around and needs a shim or 2 to get it right.
Mmm, angles. For the next trial pieces I'll be experimenting and creating triangular through to octagonal frames. This affords flexibility and will get me through. If all goes well and I get to build another 20' workshop I can set up a big table just for this kind on job and maybe build some permanent jigs.
