I'm probably going to get slated for doing this, but i have just bought an Evolution Rage circular saw to have a go on but was wondering if you could recommend any quality blade i could fit to it. It cuts ok but it does leave quite a rough edge (is this normal on circular saws?) Could i fit a fine cut blade and would that help?

Thanks
Paul

The supplied blade will be a general purpose blade, designed to cut metal/ timber. So a proper timber blade will give a better cut, also increasing the tooth count will give better cross cutting results.

If you let us know the blade and bore size we can help with specifics. Freud blades are good. At the moment i am trying out the axi contract blade range on my 18v cordless saw. So far the results are very good. :)

Are you cutting along the grain or across it? My Evo leaves a nice fine cut cross grain. I occasionally get some splintering along the grain in softwood though.

If it's the 1B, the blade is 185mm x 20mm bore, a standard size.

I suspect the term "multi-purpose" in that context actually means "totally useless at everything". Get a decent quality blade (freud etc) with at least 40 teeth, pref 60 or 80 but expect to pay 3 times that for good quality.

I'm cutting across the grain. MMUK, Where do you buy your replacement blades from for your evo?

I wore my original one out cutting thick wall alu. I bought a replacement from Amazon for £13 (they're now £15, same as B&Q). I do however have quite a few Irwin Contractor blades I picked up for my old saw some years ago on clearance that I've been using. They are only a 16mm bore but I've been opening the bore out with a step drill to 20mm. I've currently got a 24tpi blade fitted.
