Hi, i'm new to woodturning. Just bought my first lathe, a viceroy. Im having trouble getting a chuck to fit the tread. It's 1 1/2"x8tpi i belive. Has anybody got one for sale or know where i can get one or an adapter to change the tread?? Cheap as possible.lol. Many thanks. Mark.

the new Axminster has the option but not cheap.
 
Hi

As you are new to turning I suggest you wait for a while before deciding which chuck to buy - you'll be able to make a more informed choice that way.
Hopefully you will have a face plate supplied with the lathe, you can use this to mount 'bowl' work by direct screwing, via a glue chuck or a jam chuck.
Get to know your lathe and what you want to do with it in the future, then decide which chuck will suit you the best.

Scroll chucks make life easier but there is nothing that they can do that cannot be acheived by other means.
