Has anyone bought a faceplate from Chronos?

I have a Vicmarc which has a M33/3.5 thread but also has a 34 mm dia X 9mm lg register before the faceplace would sit against the vertical face of the register. Photos below show both the spindle geometry and an existing faceplate with a counterbore machined to accommodate the register.

I emailed Chronos to ask if they have a drawing or similar of their faceplate and they emailed back to say the only info they have is the photo. Seems strange / poor for an engineering company but I suppose you don't arrive at the prices they charge without some compromises!

Anyway, has anyone bought one and can comment about whether they are threaded full thickness or indeed have a counterbore of some descriptions (gold star for dimensions as well!)

Thanks

Simon

The Vicmarks have a shorter register than most other lathes with M33 spindles so the odds are in your favour of it fitting!

Thanks Paul - I didn't know that.

I guess my Q is whether the 34mm register is 'standard' as a faceplate threaded full depth would not go over it and therefore will not sit true.

Just found it total depth 35mm unthreaded part about 7mm the space between my register plate and the faceplate is just over 3mm hope this helps will try and post a photo later

Hi Simon,
As Chronos are primarily an engineering company, I would suspect their faceplates are intended for a metalworking lathe. The Axminster catalogue shows most of the wood turning spindle noses. There are about six with M33 threads!, some 33dia. register and some 34dia. register. The Vicmarc is shown as 34mm x 16 long. I suppose the easiest solution would be to use a spacer.
Regards
Tudor
