Getting ready for the Christmas fairs. Doing the German one in Salisbury so need something more than just the normal so made a quick prototype to9 see if the idea worked. This is off centre but have worked the geometry out now so the rest should be OK, This is in oak, turned then cut. The black is ebonised with lemon juice .

Nice work. May I suggest using a compass to draw a semi circle from the centre of each candle holder section. If the pencil is put on the centre of the disc then you should get a perfect result.

Thanks Procell. Did a couple today for sale and got them accurate pretty much as you suggest. I tend to do things quickly on the fly when doing prototypes to see if the idea works.

Bob: Get yourself a jam jar and put some wire wool in it with lemon juice,. Leave to soak and then use to ebonise or blacken oak. Works on some other woods as well. The citric acid reacts with the tannin to get the black effect.

Brilliant. Thanks for that Pete. Never heard of that before. I'll give it a try.

You can use vinegar instead of lemon juice but it takes ages to get rid of the smell LOL.

Make sure you leave the ebonised wood for a good 24 hours at least before buffing or it makes a mess of your wheels DAMHIK.
