When I heard of these I thought it was a medical condition ! However my son bought me the Crown David Springett tool set for a birthday present, and now will be expecting to see some Chinese Balls! Has anyone on here made any, and if so what sort of results/problems did you have? I've ordered Springett book and DVD and I've read all I can find in the AAW archive, and also some threads on here from a few years ago. I've not yet attempted any but I'm making cup chucks and suchlike to help in manufacturing the balls when I've made them. I've not completed the ball clamping chuck for the drilling yet, and I've not totally made my mind up weather to go the all wood and screws job, or try the PVC compression fitting with Woden insert jobbie. I would be interested in anyone else's experience.

I have only read his book on the chinese balls and I would follow his advice on wood and chucks needed. I will be interested to see how you get on

Our club has had two demonstrations by Dave Springett & he really does make it seem easy, but that's the same for most professionals.

Thanks for the interest and links. I've seen some of these websites but others are interesting. I've picked up a 2inch pvc connector today so I shall attempt to make a a chuck to hold a 2.5 inch ball securely and we'll see how it goes. David Springett book and DVD haven't arrived yet so I shall be working from first principles!
