Whitmores have got Cherry SE = straight edge? deal lot at £495 cu mtr that equals roughly £14 cu.ft.

a cubic mtr is 35 cubic ft divided by five members is near enough 7 cu.ft per participant at £98 each plus vat.

Dunno what delivery charge is to the S.West, but plus hire of a van down here around £45 for the day to make local delivieries.

Could there be a deal?

I've just spoken with them Woody (particular to S.Wales) and delivery charge conversation went roughly as follows:
They're trying to get an M4 corridor run going (for a once a week drop), and if one's delivery is not urgent, once they have a full van, a cubic metre would be around £90 to Abergavenny/Monmouth.
Hope this is of some help mate.
Nick

£90 the delivery charge plus around £110 local van delivery extra makes £200 divided by 5 equals £40 each which would most probably be the cost of a delivery from a local supplier so if five members combined and one had a vat cert. it would be quite a good purchase if the wood is any good.

Something to think about ?

Be VERY careful with VAT. You should not make a vatable purchase and claim the tax on your return and then 'sell' part of that purchase without accounting for the VAT. In a VAT registered business the disposal of stock, materials etc should be treated as a taxable sale.

These comments are the result of experience and a VAT inspection!

OK, I just did some calculation and if my maths is right that seems very cheap? :D

Does cherry not normally work out about £3000 per cubic metre? That seems like a lot so thinking I may have cocked up my calculations.

Have I got my conversions wrong? :?

All these cubic feet, cubic metres, board feet, board metres confuse me.

At that price what would 10 metres X 200mm X 50mm cost? One for you mathematical geniuses.

Mick

guesstimating thats around 4 cu.ft and a little bit =£56 plus vat aand a carriage share charge .

Perhaps its too good to be true

One cubic metre is = 35.3146667 cubic feet. (Thank you Google.)

I'm not sure if that includes any waney edges though ;-)

It sounds interesting, depending on what sort of boards they have.

It's on the specials *.pdf mate. Iirc, square edged, Kiln dried, of varied thicknesses and lengths; the constant 4inch thick stock was a fair bit more :)
