I have no clue about watches and have never had one except when I was a kid and had a £1 pokemon toy watch(or something of that sort)- It was pretty cool tho!

Is there anything that's cheap (under £15-£20)
-reliable
-well built ( as in won't stop working in few days or won't fall apart)
-comfortable to wear (as in you can't really feel it on your hand-perhaps plastic/rubber if they are more comfortable?)
-has an alarm function and a stop-watch function, also a timer function would be really good ( stop-watch function however is the no1 requirement I need)

That's it I think, I don't care how it looks or what brand it has(ok well maybe not a pokemon watch but anything else will do I think :D ) , I just need it as a tool for a specific task I will need to do.
Before you say - Your phone, yes I have a phone that can do that stuff , but not this time...

thanks.

hmm seems like the stop-watch on it runs only for an hour, a bit pointless... and I saw some reviews where they say it's not the same quality as it once was, it was made in Japan before, and now in China...says it all. some review about comparing it to a poundland item didn't impressed me as well. But the dealbreaker for me is just the 1hour stop-watch.
Anything else that's a bit better than this one and has more useful stop-watch?

I suspect all cheap digital watches will have the same limitation on stop watch; it's just the number of digits on the display.

BugBear

Casio sea pathfinder. Tough, waterproof and the strap pins don't break when you breath on them too hard. Pretty sure the stop watch goes on for 24 hours

timex indiglo Ironman.
cheapest I've seen it for is 20 quid, normally 25-30. will do everything you want and a little bit more (has a nifty light) and is bomb proof.

I would say most digital Casio watches would fit the bill.

That's the watch I use ...I've had them for the last 15 years or so ...they don't go wrong, the battery just runs out eventually ...I'm just onto my fourth. It tells the time and has an alarm ...that's all I need.

To be fair you can pay more and get more features .. I heard there's one which has a button on it that summons a rescue team to wherever you are in the world !

Having seen Matt's link to the wood watch it made me wonder if a wooden watch strap could be made ..

Alex Snodgrasses YT clip shows him making a flexi 'bandsaw snake' (starts at about 31mins in)..

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wGbZqWac0jU

but I reckon my 3tpi 3/4" bandsaw blade may not be quite right for making a flexible wooden watch strap!

I was wondering if anyone with elite scroll saw (or possibly bandsaw) skills had ever tried making a wooden watch strap or whether it's one of those things which is all very nice in theory but in practice is as dumb an idea as can be?

Honestly, I don't think it's a good idea. Maybe the head could be made form wood, ..but not the strap. I don't know about anyone else, but I catch my watch on things all the time, it would be broken in a matter of days.

I reckon (in fact I know) it's doable. do a search on google for wooden watch strap, they already exist. tight grained wood is a must.

having said that, just because it can be done, doesn't always mean it should be done. :)

^ I see it has a wooden strap already ...lol...hadn't noticed the first time I looked ...guess there's more than one way to make a strap :)

I have liked the look of those wooden watches as well,
However.. They are total chinese cheapo watches, they sell for about $10-$15 from aliexpress ,
people buy them from there, make a website where they describe it as something super cool and flog it for $60-$100 :D
