Hi all,

I'm planning on turning self employed online before the year is out selling a game I've devised and a few others that I haven't.

Anyone recommend a good cheap po box firm ?

Royal mail isn't an option at a wopping £244.20 per annum.

Am I being paranoid not wanting people to know my home address ?

For security reasons and it's a residential area so don't want people turning up requesting to buy over the door step.

Any advice, greatly appreciated.

you are still going to have to display your registered office address, and I have a feeling/distant memory that it cannot be a PO Box.

Personally, I would just stress on the contact details of your website that there is no physical shop at the address. Could you have a registered office at your accountants- not sure what they would charge though- probably more than 244, which is only a fiver a week.

Are you planning on using an accountant :?: If you are you can make that your 'registered company address' but you still have the problem of what to put on your web site. We are always told to ensure that anything we buy over the net has a physical address on the site. This is to ensure that if anything goes wrong you can send snail mail to that address. Personally I wouldn't buy anything 'on line' unless the web site included a physical address.

As Marcros has said if you don't want people turning up on your doorstep then make it clear in web site that there is no sales and no commercial operation from that address. Or else invite anyone who wants / needs to send you a snail mail to send to the company registered office i.e. your accoutant :!:

Wasn't planning on having an accountant and with a £79k VAT threshold don't think I'll be needing one any time soon.

Guess £5 a week saved is worth the occasional bit of hassle and as mentioned above a po box address might put people off buying in the first place.

I have bought quite a few games as research over the past year and I'm amazed how many have po box addresses on them but I guess even those were originally sold from an established and contactable retailer and not direct from the manufacturer.

It will also help keep things simple with the ebay address, reg office and whois all being the same.

Thanks again for your time and input.

I have a small retail sideline business and have never had anybody just turn up. The odd person has asked whether they can collect over the last few years- i doubt that you will be inundated.

Good luck with it.
