Purchased a Powercraft electric planer from Aldi recently - looked well constructed for £13 !
One minute planing some beech and blade is blunt and rounded.
Only to be expected at the price. Purchased new De Walt blades but they are so brittle that they shatter on tightening in holder. Tried 2 sets so far.
Clamping block is same as many other makes.
First time owning an electric planer, any special techniques for fitting blades ? or is it just a bad batch of De walt ?

Regards,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

Welcome to the forum.

I have a bosch planer and have not had that problem. The only thing I can think of, is the cutter block flat? Is there any dust in the groove the blade beds in. The blades are very hard and will not like being bend over a bump in the block.

I have a number of the Powercraft tools and have found them quite useable if treated with care, hope you get this sorted out OK.

Hi Stefan

Welcome to the forum.

I think Dave has covered all of the points that I would have made.

Hope you get it working.

Cheers
Neil
