I had a very nice e-mail back from The Wooden Teddy Bear Company and they say they have not had any adverse reports about FD blades breaking and no reports of Olsen blades being inconsistent. They said they were sending me 3 dozen FD untra reverse number 5s and 3 dozen Olsen mach speed numbe 5s to test.
If the FD blades behave as they should I will revert back to them. As I said previously, they were my favourite blade for many years. As Gill said, now and again we get a bad batch and I suppose that is to be expected regardless of the manufacturer. The FDs are a bit aggressive but absolutely perfect on my 20mm thick hardwoods. I shall look forward to trying out the blades.
