I'm getting there - very busy month but hope to be able to say I've finished before the deadline tomorrow night. [This is assuming that the latest attempt does not go the way of the last one - i.e. into the firewood pile #-o #-o  ].

A planned weekend of Gavil-smithing and Harrogate turned into getting to my son 10 miles away before the ambulance followed by a weekend of visits for what turned out to be severe appendicitis and subsequent removal.
However I shall now go and making the winning entry [in my head lol]

Priorities Mike!

Hope the recovery is quick and painless.

Priorities Mike!

Not too painful but Dad still gets to play butler now he's home
Unless I'm in the workshop and can't hear the bell

Now then, what's a suitable wood for a gavel , Balsa?

THis is for all the people who dont think they have time to support the challenge. This is my month so far
-as a home builder trying to get a home ready for move in before xmas
- working 8 days on a kitchen reno in Fernie B.C. (400 kms away)
-being on village council and going to meetings and being on call for advice.
-being the volunteer ice maker at the curling club ( around 60 hrs of volunteer labor)
- as well as all the other crap that goes on in life
Get your ***** in the saddle, so to speak ,and support Nev and the challenge.
-oh yes, I forgot. A 5 day trip to Pebble Beach for some golf.
Sorry ,I just had to vent. DK

In spite of having had a month that makes DennisK's sound like a village picnic   , my entry is now ready. Not the best, but should get me the one point. [-o< [-o< [-o<

Not sure if I'll have time to finish mine - ironically, the thing that took most time and left me feeling too tired for turning was 2 weeks of jury service. It was very interesting but also very tedious at times and left me feeling rather drained by the end of it. The judges didn't even appear to have gavels!
I just need to find time to make finish the handle and make a block.
