Two different items completed today, the first is a small hollow form made from Blackthorn, 4" high and 3" wide.

The second is a Natural edged base, candlestick in Sycamore, this is the completion of a sequence I put together for my website showing the making of the item from start to finish. you can see the page here

In the words of Tony the Tiger, 'Theyrrrrrrre Great!!'.
Lovely flowing curves and nice sharp edges on what I'm sure was probably a mare to finish well.
A nice demo too, but you forgot to drill the hole for the candle ;)

I agree about the flowing curves and the sharp edges, but to my eye, particularly the bottom stem is too thick and I've got my doubts about the size of the decorative part in the middle. What size candle will you use with this?

VerY nice Kym Like The vase Thats My prefrence But Both are UniqueIn Their own Right
Regards

Both are very nice pieces but I love the candle stick , Perfection is in your own eye IMO ,when you are making something you will see what you want it to look like and if you succeed in getting it to that vision then it is perfect .Others may agree or disagree but you have what you set out to do . Well done =D> =D>

Thanks to all for the comments, much appreciated! jurriaan, the overall idea to the piece was to get some semblance of balance through the transition from the necessarily bulky base to the more refined top in such a manner that there was no excessive differences which might have been jarring, plus, althought it isn't really apparent in the picture, the region between the two colours is a split, so going much finer would have risked a break. Overall though it works for me and apparently others, but I do understand when it comes to design that we are all different and what looks OK to one is not necessarily the case for all and as such we swap various ideas about form and function. Often that can result in improvement or a change of thought, so it is a valuable process! Candle size is a standard 20mm.
