Sounds very much like the J4 I sold a bit back on Ebay for next to nothing (£210). It was worth a lot more!. I now regret it - it was a super lathe and very well put together.

i have a J4 that is lacking a motor. as jacob says, it is solid. if you have seen the lathe, look on lathes.co.uk

It won't be worth a lot, but will be worth more if it has the outboard tool rests with it. the thread is non standard so chuck choice will be limited to one that you can have an adaptor made for it.

of the bits you list:

12 turning tools- may be very low spec, may be good.
1 craft supplies precision combination chuck- you would probably still want to buy a scroll chuck
1 screwchuck- easy and cheap to make
2 face plates- useful
1 tailstock drill chuck with no 1 morse taper- a few quid to buy new
1 revolving centers- useful
3 drive centers- useful
1 sizing tool
15" cast iron tool rest
8" cast iron tool rest
7 books on woodturning- may be useful but no great value
1 instruction tape (2 1/2 hours)- sounds like a vhs tape
300 woodworking magazines- no real value, just try selling old magazines
several bags of hardwood- may be good. If you had to buy blanks, they can get expensive. If you have a chainsaw and/or other ways of sourcing wood, then they won't cost you much.

If you want my arundle for spares or repair you are welcome to it- there is an adaptor with it for a supernova chuck. It does need a new motor and a switch to get it going, and it doesn't have the outboard rests.
