Captive Ring Tool

Ive just been given a Captive Ring tool for Xmas from Crown, does anyone have a simple procedure for using it say to make a rattle, also how do you finish the rings and the stem once they are cut

only advice I can offer is sand them well before you seperate them or you've got a lot of handsanding to do !!
