I have this scrap off cut which I’m cutting into bow tie inlays since it’s just sitting around and it fells hard and dense but I’m not sure what it is. I think it’s beech but would like a second option please ?

Again - certainly not beech. Another +1 for sycamore - I wouldn't want to distinguish between that and its relative maple though. Don't know maple well enough, so let's just say "Acer sp".

If it's really heavy my first thought would he maple. It would make very clean and smooth (if on the yellow
side when oiled) bow tie stitches. I make mine out of walnut or wengie but I like dark ones to contrast. Apart from making my banjo neck from rock maple I've never found much use for it myself.
But that's just my opinion
