Found these logs Unchopped at the back of the wood pile while having a sort out. Anyone able to tell me what tree it is please

Spalted something.

Having leaves would help; can you recall them?

The something could be a variety of things. At that resolution we can be certain it is a temperate grown wood rather than tropical due to the annual growth rings.

The spalting and bark look a lot like beech, but some planed side grain to show the ray-flecks would be needed to confirm or prove incorrect.
 
I dont think i ever saw the leaves. My builder turned up with them one day and said do you want these.
