I've been on a box making kick...before our relocation...still working on getting the shop up and running. Darn day job!

I just picked up this box from Doug Stowe's Etsy site. I thought it would be cool to own a piece by the guy who's inspired me in my woodworking.

Have any of you ever purchased work from someone you admire or inspires you?

Absolutely, a nest of occasional tables in the arts and crafts style from the Edward Barnsley workshop. In design terms, I have since moved on from there, but I still love the tables. I also came very close to buying a piece from Petter Southall http://www.sladersyard.co.uk/ig_yd/index.php?tp=xxy2y9y4&pg=1. Petter is a former boath builder and makes some fabulous pieces incorporating boat building techniques. Still sometimes wish I had bought the cabinet but it wouldn't quite fit the space we wanted it for.

I bought a small carved book with a drawer from Livio DiMarchi in Venice, the wooden car/boat fella. It's not particularly impressive like the more expensive stuff, but it's association and memory means a lot to me.
