Hi All,

Just found site and think it's great!!

I'm looking at making a backgammon board and am really finding it hard to find where to get decent wood from. I don't mind if I order from the net or visit somewhere locally.

Does anyone know a good stockists, either online or in the Birmingham (UK) area?

Thanks In Advance.

Ben

Hi Ben

I think that Gill, a regular on this board, has complained in the past about a lack of good suppliers in the West Midlands.

Someone recommended these, but I haven't used them myself

It's not too far for you, depending on which part of Birmingham you are in.

I've just had a good look at the site and I was really impressed with their selection of hardwood, so much so that I will be paying a visit myself.

Try this http://www.sykestimber.co.uk/hardwoodspec.htm#afrormosia

Moan, moan, moan! :D

If you find anywhere, Ben, please don't keep the secret to yourself! The lack of a decent local timber supplier is precisely why so much of my latest work involves paint and MDF :( .

I wasn't aware of Sykes Timber, though, so I shall have a word in HWMBOs shell-like and see if I can wangle a trip out there. It's not quite on the doorstep but I'm desperate enough to risk negotiating the M42. Thanks for the lead, Neil :).

Yours

Gill
