Hi All,

I am currently building a couple of tables. I was thinking of using buttons to hold the top in place. The question is can I use biscuits to provide the tongue of the buttons. Is this a strong method. If I do, do I need to glue the biscuit into the button?
Or
do I use a traditional method ?

Guess you could, and yes, I'd glue the biscuit into the wooden button.
To be honest though, they are so easy to make that there's no need to do that (although you could use your biscuit jointer to cut the slots in the rails). I use the router table ar table saw to nibble away the material and then chop them to length.
Scroll to the bottom of this page to see some I made last month.
Hope this helps
Philly :D

I made a very simple jig which I use on my RA saw for buttons. You can see it in detail on my website, under Resources.
