Hi Shady, I'm sure that John and yourself are quite right. I will get some cheap wood and have a 'play'. I just prefer the look, maybe I could try the frame construction and use euro hinges to adjust things. I have seen a double recess for the hinge on the door and the hinges screwed directly to the frame sides. This would simplify the fitment of the butt hinges. I am thinking of reducing the thickness of the doors to 25 mm or less.

I have just finished fitting a new bathroom floor and need to plumb things up now. I will be attacking the kitchen units very soon.
