Has it got a drive belt - could be broken?

No drive belt ,I was thinking it could be bearings on the arbor ,not sure, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Buy a better saw?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Take the blade off and run the motor ... does the shaft spin?

The gearbox has failed. Beyond economic repair as the gearbox comes with the motor.
Like most Clarke products it is a heap of ........

Thanks, I guess it's time to look for a new saw but not a clarkes, thanks again .

I have some Clarke stuff. It is not good quality.

But I did get my pillar drill replaced when I complained to Clarke about the runout. So there is some support in the UK.

Assuming this was a sudden failure, and that it hasn't been grumbling at you for ages (or the gearbox grinding and slipping)...

... There might be a cotter pin or similar, on either the motor shaft into the gearbox or the output shaft (for the arbour), designed to shear as a safety feature in case the saw gets jammed (it is a site saw, after all). In which case, it may be a replaceable part. I had a cheap-but-useful right-angle adaptor for a power drill that did this - the pin sheared. It's worth asking Clarke, or a Machine Mart branch (they are big Clarke dealers).

But don't get your hopes up. As everyone else has said, they're not renown for quality. If there's no part, you might dispose of it via Gumtree as a non-runner (someone might make use of the motor itself or other parts).

I hope it's fixable, but like everyone else, I fear it's not.

strip it apart and have a look. it's already dead so you can't make it worse.
once you've found the culprit send a parts request to the link below and see how much it will cost to repair, it might be peanuts. no it isn't the best saw in the world, but I'm positive it cuts ok for you (else you wouldn't be using it), so why not have a go at fixing it?
