Electrolysis is mind blowing.

I have now cleaned two old rusty Stanley plane bodies using this process.

I used a 12v car battery charger, a couple of handfuls of washing soda crystals in a plastic 10 litre paint pail, and let it stew overnight. Perfecto!!

Wrong photographs. These parts DID NOT go through the electrolysis process. Those photos will follow :)

These are some before and after pics following 23 hours in a rotary tumbler using ceramic media :)

Here are some b4 and after electrolysis photos of a Stanley #3 plane.

Unfortunately, I didn't take any before photographs of the plane that I soaked overnight in the electrolysis bath, but you will get the idea of the end result. The plane body came out a beautiful shade of grey :)

The plane on the right is a rust bucket that I am yet to place in a bath.
