Brace Mortise and Tenon

Any one any experience with these joints?

Any do / don'ts or tips to share?

They seem to be quite common here even on new work (verandas, car ports) but the almighty google is failing me at this point (lots of pics - no 'how to')

The tenon is going to be triangular but that doesn't mean the mortice has to be, so that can make it easier i.e. you can rough out a triangular mortice without necessarily having a tight fit on the hypotenuse faces. Depends where the load bearing is.
