Morning all,
A few months ago I came across the Bosch Colt palm router in one of the US magazines I read.
It seems to me that its the best of its class, but over here there is nothing like it.
I just purchased furniture and cabinet making and in the back is a picture of the bosch colt. Brilliant I thought, this was until I tried finding the product on the Bosch UK website, the router number they lave listed in their review GKF600, but this is an entirely different router
Has anyone had any luck finding the Colt router over here?
I would get one from the US, but by the time I factor in having to lug about a transformer, it has lost most of its appeal!

Many thanks

Matt

Edit: Heres a link to the router im after http://www.boschtools.com/tools/tools-detail.htm?H=175980&G=66644&I=67467
but this is the GKF600 router http://www.fowlertools.co.uk/product.asp?s=c9b9sX3939&strParents=&CAT_ID=&P_ID=1334

In last months GoodWoodWorking they showed a picture of the Bosch palm router but they called it the GKF600!! and said it was coming soon. Well the name is obviously wrong and it would be nice to know if we are indeed going to see the nice Bosch palm router in the UK sometime soon. There is nothing about it on the Bosch UK web site, but then I cant see their GMF1400 fixed based router they do sell over here on their web either. I wish Bosch would take their UK web site seriously. Anyone from GoodWood available for comment??

Bosch confirm it is the GKF600E.
They are in short supply at the moment.

Matt have you had a look at laminate trimmers, they will do just about all that the bosch will do. I have got a Makita3707FCbut there is also a model that comes with some of the extra bases as in your link. Dewalt and hitachi also make similar machines

I use mine more for routing than trimming, its just the right size for one handed use, ideal for hinges, rounding over, lifht template work, inlays, etc.

Jason I have a Makita with all the bits to go with it, bought it for £1 back in the summer at our local car boot. I thought I mis heard what the price was then I thought it must be burnt out as the plug had been cut off. I put a plug on it when I got home and It worked best £1 I've ever spent. (sorry for the gloat but I couldn't resist it) :D :D

Thanks to Andy King for passing on the Bosch confirmation that the router shown in GoodWood last month was the GKF600E. However the link to the Bosch router as shown in the first post to this thread shows a very different router (although is called a GKF600CE) and this same router is also shown on the Bosch UK web site. The palm router in GoodWood look so very much like the Bosch PR 10/20 Laminate Trimmer as sold in the USA. (which I think would be a popular router in UK if Bosch would produce a 230volt option).

So I'm still confused, but thanks anyway and I blame the Bosch marketing types for my confusion (and an out of date web site)

The laminate trimmers I mentioned above will do all that the bosch one does and come with all the same bases so maybe Bosch just feel there are too many other makes already on the UK market. Why are you particularly after the Bosch?

JAson

Interesting that the fence people refer to it as a laminate trimmer, The fence that comes with the makita is almost identical to the one in the bosch link but is not what you would call micro adjustable  and the alloy base of the bosch may be better to fix the aftermarket fence to than the plastic makita one though you can see the bit easier and its got lights on it :D

Same except for the UK version is single speed only and the US has the choice of single or variable speed, for half the price. :(

Thanks Richard, that's appreciated.
