Hello,

Is anyone familiar with the router plate for the Bosch guide rail system? It states in the description that there is 25mm of lateral adjustment. Now I'm thinking this set up could be great for routing housings, BUT if the cutter cannot be adjusted so it kisses the edge of the guide rail, I don't see the point of it at all. In the photos I see on the Axi website etc, there looks to be a space between the routed groove and the edge. I would want the set the edge to a marked line and route to that line, just the same as the tracksaw cuts to the line. Otherwise positioning becomes a nonesense because of the offset and I may as well use the methods I've employed before. I have the guide rails, so potentially it could be useful. Any thoughts?

I've not got one but feel a bit tempted. My understanding is that it seems to be aimed at "drilling" holes at an exact spacing, using the indexing guide rail, which I think is used for shelving in cabinet work.

Whether or not you could easily set it up to cut dead on the line I don't know. I would think that would be trial and error and dependent on the cutter diameter, so the chances of skimming the splinter strip would be high, which may nads it up for track-saw use. My inclination would probably be to use an off-set line once a trial cut were done.

The shelf drilling thing is another matter, since I only have the plain rails as comes with the track saw, not the indexed one and I already made a shelf drilling jig I made on a CNC machine. Using the guide rails with an offset for housings is not really useful, since any board clamped on, with a guide bush will do the same anyway. I really wanted a clamp to a line and go solution. If this is not designed for it, I may as well use a double stemmed tee square and guide bush arrangement as I have been. These guide rails with integral clamps, set to a line, would be a simple, quick and accurate solution, but if offsets have to be allowed for, then none of these points would be true. Spoilt for a ha'peth'o'tar, in fact.
