Book on Libraries

rather than Library books.

I'm looking for a source or two on Library design and layout - not necessarily related to any particular period or style. The book site searches turn up loads , very few of which seem to be even close to what I need, so I'm after some recommendations if poss. I don't really mind if they are picture/ coffee table books rather than reference books.

Any help gratefully received.

Is this for a library you are making? Have you tried looking round a few National Trust properties - they invariably have a room or two which are "proper" libraries which the requiste step ladder etc.

Not strictly a library - more a panelled room with inbuilt bookshelves on one wall - by Mike Hide at http://members.tripod.com/mikehide2/id26.htm comes to mind - beautiful looking work - might be of some inspiration/help.
