Black Cherry

There's a guy on Youtube (Im sure most are familiar with by now) Ishaniti Woodwork,

but he does lovely stuff with black cherry and Asian Walnut I think is another one.

But is cherry timber the same this side of the globe, and do we have that black cherry here..

The pictures I see on the net look nothing like the finish he is getting with cherry timber.

Its a lovely golden orange colour..

Hi there... I have just turned some wild cherry. The heart wood is a nice yellow/orange...I left the sapwood on for effect....but I think by using oils etc you can darken the effect...pic attached

the table in the pic looks like american cherry to me, which is very nice to work and highly recommended, I haven't used european cherry because it's a bit harder to get hold of and more expensive when you can find it.

I have used American Cherry and it looks just like the picture you have posted. Looks beautiful when finished. I will put a photo up of a table top I have made later

I believe so yes. This is the small table top I'm working on. It's American cherry and looks the same as the earlier image you posted on the planer.
