Always thought that timezones were hourly?

I did until I checked the times this morning for Sri Lanka and Mumbai using the web.

When it's 14.43pm in Sri Lanka it's only 14.13 in Mumbai. Bizarre...unless the web time servers are up the creek.

India is definitely 5 1/2 hours ahead of GMT - speaking as someone who was there just a few weeks ago :)

There is one place out east somewhere that is 15 minutes out. I can't remember where, but I'll try to find it.
The reason I know is that one of my Indian friends had a bet with one of my Chinese friends, who didn't believe him. I think she still owes him a tenner.

Ah, found it, Chatham Island:

That's fabulous, Steve. I can see me winning a few bets with that one :D

Intriguing as to why that happened...sounds like the idea for a short story!

Thanks for that...were you there on business or pleasure? My wife and I are planning to visit later in the year for the first time.

Business...and Mumbai is not a pleasant place at all, I'm afraid. Although I was only there for 3 days, and didn't get to see the tourist bits.
