Picked up a RP RSBS10 at local auction yesterday to compliment a seemingly ever growing collection of machines.
Two things of note. The table was showing a good film of surface rust and other marks (including dried on glue.. why?!) as well as missing a guide roller.

So, doors off, table off:

(All clicky for larger if required)

Took the table outside for a liberal poking with the wire cupbrush on angle grinder:

Now the roller. Its in two parts as it were. There's the little bearing that the blade runs against and there's a small piece of 10mm dia bar that sits in a channel with a threaded hole in it. No problems, bit of 10mm stainless that I had, hole drilled and tapped M5... and the bearing? Well because I have a habit of "That'll come in useful) I happened to have the sliding door roller mechanism from a Transit kicking about. Same size too! That was duely installed:

On the phone to Tuffsaws next for a few new blades, put together a stand for it (I have a location earmarked for it to live) and I'd say its good to go :D

Thanks for looking

Nice one!!!

Two of the most useful tweaks now...or actually three are:

1) Make a zero clearance insert (ZCI) out of thin plywood for the hole

2) Make some lignum guides top and bottom will make it super quiet

3) Get Steve Maskery's BANDSAW ESSENTIALS DVD....the single most important accessory for any bandsaw user!

Have fun with your bargain! Superb restoration indeed.

Good work, I found that the rsb12 used to run without bothering too much about those bearings, just as long as they were close.

BTW a neighbour of mine has the 12 , it was mine at one time but the drive belt snapped last week, do you know who stock them?

Cheers for the replies.

Jimi: Will be making a new insert anyway, I have some 6mm Lexan polycarbonate acrylic.. stuff... Very strong (its what they use on bus shelters to stop unsavoury types lobbing bricks through them)

DW: Not sure, I would expect Record themselves would? They have an expansive back catalogue of parts although I expect that if you can find a stockist of machine belts that have the one that matches then use them? I used a local firm for two drive belts for a small metal lathe I have and I just specified the length, thickness, groove type etc and all was good.
