Hello,

I’m building a large garden storage box (1800mm x 1100mmx 800m – with two front hinged doors) from treated timber and at this stage plan on putting most of it together with a nail gun.

I'm just about out of the nails which came with my new Bostitch FN1664-e Magnesium Finish Nailer 16g and I'd like to know if there is any type of nail that is recommended for such outdoor projects?

All of the nails listed with this nail gun on the Bostitch site are listed as galvanised - does this guarantee they won't rust?

Are there any other issues / tips or tricks I should be aware of?

Will two nails at butt-jointed corners of frames suffice or are screws needed in such areas?

Thanks , Paul

Hi paulc

Galvanised nails will rust eventually - usually starting on the head where the firing pin on your nailer knocks the galvanised coating off!

Tacwise supply a Stainless Steel finish nail that will fit your machine and is ideal for outside work but I think the longest they do is 50mm. Don't know if this is any use to you - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tacwise-50mm-St ... B009NF5Z2Q .

Slainte!

Paul
