I have been given a load of small chunks of rosewood which i intend to make some new handles for some old planes but wondered the best way to finish it. polish, laquer or other ?
any thoughts would be appreciated

Ian

I quite like wiped on blonde de-waxed shellac for plane totes myself (like these ones). Just avoid BLO; it can sometimes turn the rosewood absolutely black, which ain't great - unless that's the look you want of course. :D

Cheers, Alf
