I think it's brilliant! A desk lamp with attitude. In fact, if the grinder is still working you could sharpen your quill without moving from your desk. Why don't all grinders come with their own desk lamp?
 
It'd be useful if you rewired it so the grinder works again as a workbench lamp, no messing about, just straight back to grinding.

Yeah. Get yourself a grinder with a wet wheel and you could use the trough for an inkwell. :D
 
I witnessed something similar last weekend. A guy was eyeing up a two speed old hand drill........that his wife would like if it were made into a lamp [GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]
