I made a bangle which I really enjoyed so thinking about doing another, I have loads of oak but its all about 20mm ish. Any suggestions of something I could laminate between the oak ? I'm not great with matching timber to be honest as I'm colour blind  Also thinking It only need to be a couple of mm thick so should I try and buy planed or get thicker stuff to resaw.... (not even used my bandsaw yet lol)

i would go with something dark. A shop cut veneer would probably be ideal for you. you could even ebonies a bit of oak, using steel wool/rusty nails and vinegar.

Are you trying to make something 40mm thick or so- 2 pieces of oak? The advantage of that is you could rotate the second on e90 degrees, so there is no short grain.

You can use any wood thickness you like and thickness it on the lathe.

It's up to you how you assemble it or turn off the surplus to meet your design.

Just as is done with these Pencil Pots only turn to veneer thickness if you only want narrow band contrast

Or play around with whatever you've got

For something like thin walled bangles I would use Cascamite glue, much more reliable than the CA used in the pencil pots but it will prolong the glue curing time.

The other thing you could do if you want to keep it narrow is cut one or more grooves, fill with epoxy/metal dust or anything else and turn down, you could dovetail the grooves for security.

I'm guessing the oak is flooring offcuts?

Thinking of doing a wider bracelet, that why I want to laminate the wood together. I got a load of oak given to me, I've got all sorts of shapes and sizes. :)

I have seen a video of crushing stone and using CA to hold the stone in, very interesting ! Maybe one for the future.

what size blank do you need for these- I will have a look if I have anything exciting when I get a chance.
