I've posted the bottom one before, but I've decided to keep them together. The top one is a 1903 Studebaker and the bottom one is a 1914 Chevrolet Roadster. Did anyone here have a new one of either?
I really like the style of these patterns. They are from a 1991 Patrick Spielman book, courtesy someone called Jerry Spruiell.

Steve, I'd probably be working for 50p an hour if I sold them.

What do you think the one below would sell for? When it's finished of course. No idea how many internal cuts there are altogether, but there's over 100 in the wheels alone. It'd probably take me a week to cut it, but I just do a bit occasionally as my good eye soon loses focus.

even though i have my own little business " Cabin Crafts" i dont think about the hours i have spent cutting things out to sell as it just don't tally up, i think of it as i am doing what i really enjoy doing and i sell items to regain the money used to buy the saw, blades and wood to keep me in the hobby i love doing.
What else would you do with the items you cut, there are only so many you can keep around the shed and if you keep giving everything away you will always be out of pocket..

The train looks very intricate and really is a challenge, look forward to seeing it when its finished...

Martin.

That loco looks an interesting project, it will be very satisfying when finished.

I am the same as you, if I sold my projects I would be working for 50p or less per hour, plus I am no good as a salesman. This is why I give all of my projects to the Cats Protection shop, or the Merlin Centre, which is (Cornwall’s Multiple Sclerosis Treatment Centre). I suppose I do get some payback as I use the (MS) centre. :)

Take care.

If you are serious, have you got any particular photo in mind? I'm still learning how to make patterns from photo's, but I am having some moderate success. Mind you, I've had some disasters too. :D

Steve, I wouldn't know how or where to go about selling. Anyway, I cut stuff to suit myself rather than to suit other people. If I had to start churning stuff out I would soon lose interest and the saw would be back on ebay.

look very nice martin it has been interesting to see your journey on the scroll saw and your work progressing . thanks for all the posts and pics you put up and the way you are trying different things and being creative with your ideas and patterns

I particularly like the spock and when I have got my orders out of the way I am going to have a crack at it for my daughter for Christmas

star trek is very very popular with todays generation I think the big bang theory comedy has a big influence especially with spock

I not keen on a lot of American sit coms but that one is hilarious at times

if you made a load of spocks and kirks and went on a busy market I guarantee you would sell out

superheroes are massive with teenagers I know all this through my teenage daughter

how about having a crack at spiderman ? or batman ? those two are most popular

bet it would make a interesting scroll project , I keep saying to my self I going to learn how to create patterns for scrolling

Martin , WoW that train looks like a serious project  please post more pictures as you progress or of quarterly reports if you know what I mean .But don't put pressure on yourself  .

As for the cars we have a very active vintage club in my area and from March to Sept. if you were a stranger in the area you would think you had just stepped out of the Tardis . Thanks for posting .
