Hi All,

I have 3 pieces of 1 1/2" x 5 1/2" oak that I would like splitting into 3/4" boards. Is there anybody in Leeds with a bandsaw that could do this in exchange for a few beer tokens for me? Each piece is about 4' long.

TIA
Mark

Hi Mark.

Do you have access to a table saw with a 3" cut? You can rip one side then flip the piece and rip from the other. If the saw is set up accurately the result is quite good. Obviously though, you will lose the kerf thickness.

not too bothered about the kerf thickness. I need 1/2" finished boards, which should be ok if it doesnt move too much after cutting. I do have a ts, which will do 2 1/2" if not the 3. (what can a 419 do?)

I may give that a go, if i have to use a handsaw on the middle, then it is easier than hand sawing the lot.
